THE HEAD AND THE HEART
I was pretty surprised that I enjoyed
The Head and The Heart.
Before I get into details I’ll tell you that DEADBIRD isn’t something I
would go out and buy and listen to, but it wasn’t as painful as some of
the stuff I get to listen to and review. This band has a very dark,
doomy kind of sound. The guitars are simple but effective, very deep,
grungy chords and dirges. The vocals are very deep and scratchy
sounding, and while the yelling is loud, it was mixed down from the
rest of the instruments to sound a little quieter, giving that obvious
angsty screaming sound but without taking away from the music itself
and destroying your eardrums. The first two tracks remind me a little
bit of DOWN.
The Head and The Heart is Deadbird’s debut album and is available now on
Earache Records.
