EXTREME BEHAVIOR

Now that it's not punishable by death to write catchy songs about sex, drugs, and rock n' roll, HINDER is doing what a lot of newer bands are doing...not taking themselves all too seriously. This is pretty evident in the kick off track "Get Stoned", which is a song about relationships, and more importantly, screwing.

This Oklahoma City five piece outfit are on a crusade to resurrect arena rock, and they're on a solid path with their strong riffs and vocal melodies. The chorus in "How Long" is very catchy, and I can see that going over well with the lighter-waving masses. "By The Way" has 'single' written all over it. Songwriting can make or break a new band, especially since not too many of them are given more than an album or two to prove themselves. Extreme Behavior is an excellent representation of Hinder's mature writing chops. Each song has a memorable hook, and finds its way to the front of your brain very quickly, which is exactly what a good song should do.

It's nice to know that the heavy-drinking, hard-living, fist-pounding, bic-flicking days might be making a comeback, because there's a whole generation of concert-goers who haven't had a great arena show to go to in a while. As long as spandex and hairspray don't come back, we'll all do just fine.
