Only the Good Die Young
Only The Good Die Young
was originally released in 1989, this live recording was from a sold
out show in Hollywood. The band split up back in 1991 after the
overdose death of the guitarist, and now lead singer Dinah Cancer
(Dying of cancer…tee hee) has decided to release a remastered version
of this album to generate interest in her new incarnation of the old
band. Personally, I wish this band would have just let it go, I
personally don’t think this new lineup is going to go anywhere, in
fact, I’m surprised they were as popular as they were in the first
place. The music isn’t horrible, but it’s far from good, aside from
having a very unique psychedelic goth punk sound, and the vocals are
pure garbage. Dinah can’t sing a note for her life, all she does is
strain to yell. I’m a fan of plenty of bands that don’t necessarily
“sing” but at least they are good at hiding their lack of vocal talent
by actually making their voices fit the music, Dinah’s voice blends in
with the songs about as well as a 90 year old man in a baby
nursery…just because they’re all wearing diapers doesn’t mean you’re
going to miss spotting the geezer.
I know I can be overly negative sometimes, but I don’t understand what
would make anyone think a band like this would be in high demand. Dinah
says she wants to keep the spirit of the band alive, as well as bring
the music to new fans, good luck.
