PAIN NECESSARY TO KNOW
Wow, this trio would be MUCH better as a duo. EPHEL DUATH, which is
Davide Tiso on guitars, Fabio Fecchio on bass, and Luciano Lorusso on
vocals have a very unique way of combing Jazz with Extreme Metal. Let’s
just say they need to get rid of Luciano. The talent behind the
musicianship and songwriting is obvious, but so is the fact that it’s
easy these days to work hard and create incredible music, only to have
some screaming idiot ruin it. All of the music on Pain Necessary To
Know would be so much better if it was purely instrumental. The
combination of Jazz and Metal never occurred to me, but Ephel Duath
actually pull it off rather well. I can’t stress enough just how much
they need to ditch the vocals though. Every time there is a little
instrumental section that I start to get into and enjoy, this idiot
starts screaming like someone is stabbing him in the kidneys.
Pain Necessary To Know
is appropriately named, since it does in fact become painful to listen
to after a while. There is no clear order to these songs, it’s a bunch
of interesting Jazz melodies, followed by some crazy slam metal riffs,
topped off with vocals.
This whole album would work much better if they would have done two things:
1) concentrate more on blending the Jazz with the Metal
2) turn the fucking microphone off!
