ALL HAIL
KILL CHEERLEADER isn't only a fun way to spend a weekenbd, but it's the name of a hot new band of misfits from Toronto!!
*rimshot*
Nothing? damn.
According to the band's press release, these Toronto natives have been
friends since childhood, and had an early fondness for bands like GUNS
N' ROSES, MÖTLEY CRÜE, and they learned their instruments while jamming
on STOOGES songs. It's obvious, too. Most of the songs on
All Hail
have that fun, sleazy, party rock feel...and don't require much thought
to get into them. They're very catchy, under-produced (if you ask
me...not crazy about the semi-demo quality sound of this disc), and are
reminiscient of 80's arena acts.
Most of the better songs are lumped at the front of the disc; ""Save
Your Soul", "So Young", and "Deathboy" are their catchiest numbers. The
song quality tapers off after that; the musicianship is consistent and
well-executed, but the songs aren't going to blow your hair back passed
track 5.
Kill Cheerleader isn't going to lead a party rock resurgence...well not
yet, anyway. I think they're off to a good start, but they need to find
something else to blend into their old school sound to make it
agreeable to people who have had their brains soaked in
heavily-produced, glossy, electronically-enhanced power metal for the
past decade or so.
