FLEE THE SCENE
Hailing from Rockland County, New York, the five piece SOUTHCOTT makes their full length debut on Rust Records with
Flee The Scene,
a very polished collection of ten songs that mix elements of punk, emo,
pop, and rock. The songs are very radio-friendly, and would absolutely
fit in with the bands at the Warped Tour, or in rotation with bands
like JIMMY EAT WORLD, FALL OUT BOY, and TAKING BACK SUNDAY. The one
problem is that those three bands already exist... do we need another
one? I guess it's not going to hurt, but as with every popular musical
trend, over-saturation tends to bring down the beast. There is
absolutely a great deal of potential with Southcott; their songs are
hooky, the performances are tight, the production on
Flee The Scene
is polished, and I would like to see what they can come up with on
future releases. If they can find a way to break out of the current
crop of pop-oriented punk bands, they could be a real force... maybe we
could get the singer to kill someone... that'll generate some buzz,
right?
Bad idea? OK, fine.
