BUSted: The Definitive DVD
BUSted is a very comprehensive dvd that covers a band who have faced an ordeal that many bands fear: a bus crash. The crash that happened a few years ago took the life of their driver, and left the rest of them in crutches, with vocalist Dryden facing the brunt of the pain. The crash is covered here with some disturbing scene-of-the-accident photos. Aside from this painful detour for the band, the rest of the dvd features the various antics they have been partaking in since their inception up until the recording process of their latest album,
Up in the Attic. The live set shot in Germany is from 2002 and features songs mostly off the first album, with only two off the second. They have ten music videos, including the movie parody-themed “Movies” where the band spoofs
Edward Scissorhands and
The Karate Kid among others. It’s hard to find a fault with this dvd; it covers the studio sessions of all three albums, life on the road and in planes (I’m sure filming onboard an airplane is illegal at this point, if it wasn’t already pre-9/11), an energetic live set, and a ton of videos, which is surprising considering they only have three releases to draw from. They may be busted, but they are clearly still functioning just fine.
