LETHAL LEGACY
Lethal Legacy clocks in with 8 tracks at just under 40 minutes long. This album is great for a short car ride speeding down the interstate. The guitar work is incredible, chunky bottom end riffs with ear ripping solos that would blister any guitarist’s fingers by just listening to them. Every song is quick and deadly, which to be honest, does get boring after a while, some tracks seem to never end. The quality of the writing on Lethal Legacy shows that Mastery lives up to their name. They can certainly throw down a brutal set of songs that beat you about the head with heavy crunch. There are 6 tracks on this album save for the last 2 that are really just live versions of “Numeration” and “Power Race.” If you are into heavy instrumental metal then this is a must have for your collection. My only suggestion would be that the band finds a way to distinguish between some songs. Maybe I wasn’t listening hard enough, but it seems like some of the material is just reworked and presented over again a few tracks later just layered differently. Also, the drums are mixed a tad bit too high, it won’t ruin the listening experience at all, and I know some people like their drums right up front and in your face, but personally I think it could have been turned down a little. The playing deserves a 4, but I’m only rating this a 3 for those issues I just mentioned. The album could use a little more diversity, that’s all, and sometimes that’s the difference between keeping a listener interested and having someone turn it off because it starts to sound drawn out.
