THE DEAD EYE
THE HAUNTED must have reached their mid-life crisis album, which shouldn’t have approached so soon. The Dead Eye recently dropped and it has not reached the expectations I had for it. It does have its high points but the album, as a whole, doesn’t come close to what I wanted.
The band has tried to abandon its roots and achieve a sound that can only be described as Tool Lite. The Haunted’s frontman, Peter Dolving, used to front MARY BEATS JANE who become famous for having a track circulating the internet that fans believed was a new release from Maynard and Co. Apparently, his new band is now trying to make this work by complementing his vocals by playing in a way that is completely out of character.
I didn’t enjoy the album, but I’m sure a lot of people will. It’s not completely impossible to listen to the album, just dull. Try it out and judge for yourself.
