BLOOD MOUNTAIN
The Prog-Sludge masterminds of MASTODON have returned to the forefront of the metal scene with
Blood Mountain. This band makes it easy for me to be excited about new music because they are so damn phenomenal with every release… And they seem to get better and better with each release.
The group’s last release,
Leviathan, was critically acclaimed as one of the best metal releases of the year and Blood Mountain makes it sound like garbage. “Crystal Skull” and “Capillarian Crest” have been receiving huge amounts of hype after being released as singles and they are amazing tracks, but you need to listen to a lot more than those two tracks. “Circle of Cysquatch,” “Colony of Birchmen,” “Sleeping Giant,” and “This Mortal Soil” are some of the best songs of the year.
Mastodon is becoming huge, especially after appearing on Conan O’Brien’s show earlier this week, and anyone who has heard Blood Mountain will understand why. Not only are they one of the best bands around today, they may be one of the best of all time.
