From Mars to Sirius

GOJIRA (Japanese for “Godzilla”) are an amazing French Progressive Death metal band that just released an incredible new disc entitled From Mars to Sirius on Prosthetic Records. Whoa, that was a lot of information for one sentence.

This band blows me away. When was the last time you heard a concept album about the changing climate of the planet and how we need to do whatever it takes to save Earth. Well, that’s exactly what From Mars to Sirius is… and, believe me, it is really fucking cool.

The best song on the album for me was “Ocean Planet” but the entire disc is worth listening to. Tracks like “To Sirius,” “Backbone,” and “In the Wilderness” keep you hooked in throughout the entire album. Most of the songs are epic, but that is a good thing in my opinion.

Gojira has released two albums before this, but From Mars to Sirius has put the band on the map. Combining Death, Thrash, and Prog metal has gained them comparisons with MASTODON and a large following. Not only is Gojira musically diverse, but the vocals of Joe Duplantier change from death grunts to high-pitched screaming to coarse singing to completely clean making sure that From Mars to Sirius has something for everyone.
