SUBVERTER
THE ESOTERIC are an interesting hardcore band from Lawrence, KS that Prosthetic Records signed recently after they independently released 9 albums since ’98. First of all, I don’t like hardcore so I wasn’t expecting to like this record… but it’s actually a good listen.
My favorite track was “We Will Not Be Convinced…” but the rest of the album is pretty good too. My only problem was that I didn’t really enjoy some of the light breakdowns that I found in the album, most noticeably in “Don’t Waste Guts”.
The hardcore music on this album is money, and should make the band a major name in hardcore music. The breakdown alone in “Don’t Waste Guts” could score the band some MTV airplay. These things mixed together could make The Esoteric a breakout sensation in ’06.
