Contaminated Void
I had never heard of COLDWORKER before this album arrived on my doorstep so I am going to assume that this is their first effort … and it’s a damn good one! Coldworker released
The Contaminated Void on Jan. 23 through Relapse Records but they sound like old pros with their brutal, though technical and innovative, death metal reminiscent of NILE.
Fourteen quick, brutal tracks made for great listening when I popped this disc into my computer for the first time and the band slowly began to rise to the top of my iTunes most played list. Songs like “The Interloper,” “They Crawl Inside Me Uninvited,” and “Death Smiles at Me” make you want to fling people into the imaginary mosh-pit in your head.
The vocals are extremely well done, as low and deep as George “Corpsegrinder “ Fischer (Cannibal Corpse) and as spirit crushing as Glen Benton (Deicide). These guys absolutely destroy any new band today! If you like death metal, you need to check out Coldworker!
