Your Ghost Is a Gift
LIGEIA recently released their latest album,
Your Ghost is a Gift, through Ferret Music. I received a copy just the other day and I’ve been listening to the album a lot. It could be considered hardcore, metalcore, or somewhere in between – and that’s a really good thing. While I don’t usually care for hardcore, Ligeia have found the perfect balance of it and metal for my tastes.
The album starts out with “Beyond a Doubt” and it really kicks ass. The vocals are crackling, yet crisp, growls until a very melodic voice comes in and smoothes the track out. Songs like “I’m Sorry You’re Ugly,” Makin’ Love to a Murderer,” and “Dead Man’s Bride” are also ones to check out on this album.
This album is money in the bank for Ligeia. It has appeal to hardcore fans, metalcore fans, and just enough mainstream sound to, potentially, garner airplay on radio. I could definitely see any number of the tracks from
Your Ghost is a Gift gaining TV time on
Headbanger’s Ball. People will go crazy for this album, and you can quote me on that.
