Bitter Verses
DEAD HEARTS, a hardcore outfit signed to Ferret Music, recently released a new album entitled
Bitter Verses. I like the album; I think it is very well produced. It’s atmospheric and haunting – a perfect combination, in my book. While it’s not an album that I would find myself playing over-and-over again, it’s solid all the way through.
“Somnium” kicks the album off well and the other fourteen tracks follow-up nicely. My problem with the album was that I felt it was a little hard to sit through completely. Some of the songs, while still sounding great, were just a tad repetitive – I blame that on the fact that most hardcore tends to sound very similar to me. Having said that, I would choose Dead Heart over 90% of the hardcore bands that are out today.
I am not a fan of hardcore music. I can’t stand seeing Jamey Jasta and Hatebreed when I turn on Headbanger’s Ball. Having said all of that, I really like Dead Hearts and their new record,
Bitter Verses. There are some lower points, but it’s really solid all the way through. If you like hardcore, you will love this record!
