Ressurection

I love CHIMAIRA so I’ve been pumped for the new album since the band announced that they were heading into the studio. Very seldom does one get the chance to hear a perfect album, but Resurrection is one. You will need to head out to your local record store or log into iTunes on March 6 and pick up a copy of this one. It takes the band to a much darker, heavier place than they have been before. It is a resurrection for the band that was known as a metalcore band in its past.

Chimaira spent the last few years selling 300,000+ records for Roadrunner and touring the world with several legendary acts – most notably SLAYER – but the band decided it was time to make a change. They left Roadrunner and signed a deal with Ferret Music, began touring with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and DRAGONFORCE, hit the studio, and released the album that will launch them as the breakthrough band of the year.

“Resurrection” is the first, and title, track of the album. It’s being released as a single and the video debuted recently on MTV2’s Headbanger’s Ball. In case you are wondering, it deserves all of the hype that it’s getting. It is very heavy, and seems to have a thrash sound to it that isn’t present on earlier Chimaira work. That isn’t the end, though. This album goes strong for ten more tracks – each just as heavy and exciting as its predecessor.

Chimaira are very highly ranked in my top metal bands list and Resurrection didn’t move them down any. This is definitely a fantastic effort that will be enjoyed by metal heads who never thought that they would like Chimaira. It’s that damn good. Resurrection is worth the cost of a standard CD just to get the title track but you can’t stop there. Listen from beginning to end and repeat numerous times.

Plus, if you by the limited edition issue, you will get a DVD!
