Aurora Consurgens
ANGRA is a really cool power/traditional metal band that recently released a new album,
Aurora Consurgens, on SPV. It’s a great effort and is very reminiscent of IRON MAIDEN. Great guitar work and Bruce Dickenson vocals always make for a treat and I feel that most people will enjoy Aurora Consurgens.
The album is 10 tracks long and starts with a little oddity that had me expecting experimental prog metal. The first 30 seconds of “The Course of Nature” made me feel like I was in a tribal jungle; the guitars arrive to provide a soundtrack for a chase through said jungle. It’s an incredible song and really starts the album off well. This isn’t the only good track from Angra, however it is the best!
Aurora Consurgens sees high spots on “Breaking Ties,” “Salvation: Suicide,” “Window to Nowhere,” and “Abandoned Fate” along with the lead-in track. This is not a knock on the rest of the album though; I love the whole thing. Angra provides an upbeat experience that is not normally scene in metal. I feel like
Aurora Consurgens is a hidden gem – a lot of people haven’t checked it out yet, but they will love it when they do.
Angra did a stellar job on this record.
Aurora Consurgens has something for most metal heads and will definitely be a hit with fans of power metal. Edu Falaschi has an incredible voice and the team of Kiko Loureiro and Rafael Bittencourt provide an awesome guitar assault. Make sure you pick up a copy of Angra’s
Aurora Consurgens.
