ABIGAIL WILLIAMS is a fairly new band, formed in 2004, featuring Zach Gibson (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) on drums. They are an incredible melodic black/deathcore band that have been signed to Candlelight USA and just released their first EP, entitled
Legend. While only five tracks,
Legend packs an unbelievable punch. Plus, keyboardist Ashley Jurgemeyer is really sexy!
The band is very operatic at times but still remains dark. The vocals range from the screeching that is typical of black metal to death grunts. All of the songs on
Legend are great but my favorite would be “From a Buried Heart” because it seems to show off the range of the band very well. While not everyone will enjoy the harsh vocals, the guitar and drum work is worthy of being checked out by all metal fans.
I wish there was more material on Legend so I could write more about it but, sadly, you don’t get a lot of music on an EP. Abigail Williams is an incredible new band and I’m going to be watching for big things from them. Listen to
