Above the Weeping World
INSOMNIUM is releasing a new album, via Candlelight USA, entitled
Above the Weeping World and I would definitely recommend that everyone picks up a copy of it. It has a very epic sound while still holding on to a dark, punishing base that puts Insomnium on a tier above other metal bands. Better yet, Insomnium is a melodic death metal band – and I love melodic death metal.
An amazing instrumental track, “The Gale,” kicks off the album. It’s atmospheric combination of rain and keyboards set you up for the relentless kick drums and epic guitar work that soon follows. Even though it is very short, “The Gale” has been one of my favorite songs from
Above the Weeping World.
“Mortal Share” follows as the second song on the album and it doesn’t disappoint one bit. Be for warned that the guitar work on this song will make all other guitarists feel ashamed. Other good songs from Insomnium’s release are “Drawn to Black,” “At the Gates of Sleep,” “Devoid of Caring,” and “In the Groves of Death”. Truthfully, Above the Weeping World could be one of the best albums of the year.
As I said, I love melodic death metal so people who aren’t fans of the genre may not like it as much as me. I do like this album a lot, however, and I would not be surprised if this album became huge within the metal underground. Metal heads are music snobs, but everyone will admit that
Above the Weeping World is an incredible album.
