Nefaria: a Tragic Journey Towards the Light
STRIBORG is a very raw one man black metal band that is signed to Southern Lord, the record label owned by Sunn0))). Nefaria/A Tragic Journey Toward The Light is the new album from the band that you should check out if you like Burzum or other kvlt acts.
A pretty long release for a black metal album, this disc contains 16 tracks that range from short (1 minute) tracks to epic journeys through the cold, dark wooded area that you will see once you listen to the album for more than 30-seconds. Songs like the title track, “Nefaria,” and “Bleeding Black Tears of Hate” really stick out as really well done material.
Production skills are lacking, but this is a TRUE black metal album so you shouldn’t expect anything else. Southern Lord has long been a champion of experimenting with your music and has housed another fine piece of talent with Nefaria/A Tragic Journey Toward The Light. The only disappointment is knowing that you won’t be seeing Striborg live.
Make sure you pick this up if you are a fan of black metal or any kind of experimental music. It’s definitely a cut above!
