Extreme Guitar Shred DVD
I wanted to like this, it had, what seemed like, the makings of a great shred performance DVD. What I got was some psychotic looking, over-acting female guitarist, making scary faces and hitting unintelligible notes at a fast pace. I understand what shred is, and as far as I’m concerned, this is not shred. This is a just a bunch of noise played by a scary looking blonde with large breasts, wearing all sorts of intimidating dominatrix outfits. Not exactly appealing to the eye, and even less appealing to the ear. Just because she is fast, and quite possibly accurate (she plays too fast to tell), doesn't make it any less annoying. After a while it sounds like one long buzz. Each video is more disturbing than the last, including lots of blood, gore, and even a castration which is censored out (even though this could have been an uncensored DVD - not like I'd want to see that anyway, just saying.) Kat's violin skills are impressive, but they go the way of her guitar playing: fast and monotonous.
The videos are pretty cheesy and over-dramatized for reasons that are obviously beyond me. Kat offers absolutely nothing on Extreme Guitar Shred that we haven’t heard or seen, done much better, before. This is uninspired guitar mish-mosh for people who just want blood, gore, tits, and guitar squeals. I’ll take my music with a side of talent and leave this one for the drooling horomone machines with a sadomasochistic fetish.
