Children of Chaos
For a band that's called Soulidium, there's very little soul to be found here on
Children of Chaos. To sum up the album, it's a parade of nu-metal/hard rock tunes that are completely disposable. The singer's voice is whiny at times, and just plain numbing the rest of the time. I wish I could describe individual tracks in more depth, but quite honestly, it all bleeds together. "Trapped" opens the album with simplistic nu-metal riffs and the first (of many) horrible lines, Sex is so passe . "About You" features a swelling string section that doesn't come off as inspired, but tacked on. I need to feel your touch, Missing you so much is the brilliant line that can be found on there.
By the time "Easy Kind of Girl" rolls around, you'll be in a cheese-induced coma. Towards the end of the album, the band puts on their mean face and gets heavy with a capital H. "Crucify" is the first of these tracks and it even features those loudspeaker-sounding vocals in the bridge that sounded really innovative when
Stone Temple Pilots did it over a decade ago. "Big Time" comes equipped with this head-scratcher, No, I don't have the time to skullfuck your mind. There's a distortion-soaked solo and this proclamation, You know we're heading for the big time . It sounds like it's supposed to be self-deprecating, but there seems to be no truth to this line.
