The Art of Partying
If the album cover of zombified metal dudes killing each other at a backyard keggar didn't give it away, or the title,
The Art of Partying, then let's make it crystal:
Municipal Waste are making thrash metal fun while culling from the classics. Most of the time they sound like
Anthrax's looser, goofier moments, especially in the vocals, but
Slayer also seems to be a prominent influence in the pummeling ride-cymbal sections.
The album is pretty brief at 32 minutes and the band wastes no time, tearing through such titles as "Headbanger Face Rip" (with a killer gang vocal) and "The Inebriator" as if the cops were quickly closing in to shut down the party. Vocalist Tony Guardrail Foresta spits his good-time manifestos with a speedy delivery, while still enunciating clearly for the most part. "Beer Pressure" starts with a conversation between friends, one of whom is hesitant to go out drinking ( But I got a doctor's apointment at 8:30 in the morning ). The band manages to keep the topic clever, although the riffage can get repetitive at times. The finale, "Born to Party", is especially short and comes with the repeated refrain of
Municipal Waste is gonna fuck you up , followed by a beer can cracking open. Feel free to take that as a threat, or a promise.
