Runnin’ Wild
Runnin’ Wild, the debut album by Airbourne has more in common with AC/DC than just being from Australia. The boys know how to rock. Front man, Joel O’Keeffe (vocals and lead guitar) seeming channels the high voltage energy from the late AC/DC vocalist, Bon Scott. The vocals are not the only aspect that sounds like AC/CD. If I were told this was the new AC/DC album prior to listening to it, I would have totally fallen for the hoax. Airbourne also consists of Joel’s brother, Ryan on drums, guitarist David Roads, and bassist Justin Street.
The energy of Runnin’ Wild starts high, with their opening song, “Stand up for Rock ’n’ Roll”, and maintains throughout to the last song, “Let’s Ride”. “Runnin’ Wild”, the title track and adrenaline inducer, also appears on the Madden ’08 in-game soundtrack.
My favorite tracks of this collection, “Diamond in the Rough”, and “Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast” are both quite catchy and have become those songs I look forward to while listening to the CD. And yes, I could easily just fast forward to these tracks, but I would rather listen to the rest of the CD. It is very good.
