Inhuman Rampage
Dragonforce’s newest CD, Inhuman Rampage may just be my new favorite album. This London based band is going to have to pull out the big guns to top this one. It exceeds excellence at almost every level. Drummer, Dave Mackintosh can lay down a beat that rivals the best of any I have heard. From the opening song, “Through the Fire and Flames” through the next seven tracks, his sheer speed and excellence really impressed me.
Inhuman Rampage also showcases some awe inspiring guitar performances by Herman Li and Sam Totman. They really shine on “The Flame of Youth” , “Storming the Burning Fields”, and “Revolution Death Squad“. Don’t get me wrong, they play very well on every song. These three just seemed to show off a lot of complexity.
I also enjoyed listening to ZP Theart on lead vocals, who chooses to actually sing, which is unusual for metal these days. “Trail of Broken Hearts”, the final track and also somewhat of a ballad, closes out Inhuman Rampage peacefully and leaves the listener content.
Inhuman Rampage is definitely worth buying if you enjoy fast paced and accomplished musicianship.
