Karma and Effect

OK, so Karma and Effect isn’t Seether’s latest release, in fact, it’s not even the second to latest. So why am I reviewing it? Because the nice folks over at Seether’s label decided to send me more than one CD, so expect 3 Seether reviews, mmkay?

Seether was a band that I only knew of from the singles, I had never gone and actually looked any deeper into their music, and after listening to Karma and Effect, I really should have. Sure, they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but their moody, angst driven lyrics and crunchy rhythms mixed with a knack for radio friendly writing really makes these guys worthy of at least a test spin. If you’re into Post-Grunge style Alternative Rock, then these guys are a must for you. Right off the bat the hit single “Remedy” will keep you bobbing your head and tapping your toes, in fact, the tune is so catchy that I dare you to try and get it out of your head after a few listens. “Because of Me,” “Trust,” and “I’m the One” are also great tunes that you should check out. The album ends on a somber note with “Plastic Man” and then there is a hidden track after that.

All in all this was my first full length Seether experience, as in a full album, even though I’ve seen them live very recently and was impressed, I wanted to see how they sounded on a studio recording outside of the few singles that get regular airplay.
