Code Red
I couldn’t find much information about J-Henry. Wikipedia didn’t have anything. Amazon only had album information. I did find out that he was born and raised in the same state as me, good ol’ New Jersey. But Code Red sounds more like it came from a country artist from the South. Songs like “I Love My NASCAR Weekends”, “Indiana”, and “Tequila Time” definitely give you a feeling of a country artist.
Actually it was quite the terrible country artist if you ask me. It seems like he tried adding in some classic rock elements. He might be trying to pay homage to fellow New Jerseyan Bruce Springsteen with saxophones blaring on the title track to Code Red. He even had the scratchy voice going but it just doesn’t work the same as The Boss. Actually the more and more I listened to J-Henry’s Code Red, the more I noticed he tried being Bruce. Even with backing female vocals on “Apologize” like Bruce did on Further Up The Road among others.
It didn’t take me long to catch on to the farce of J-Henry. He must have been a Bruce fan growing up, tried to country up some songs and bring it all into his own. It didn’t work. The only thing that scored him points is a decent cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”. Its funny that he did his own songs sounding like Springsteen and I hated them then he did a blatant cover song and I liked it. Maybe J-Henry should start a cover band.
