New Life Crisis
Paul Mahos, Steve O’Brien, Steve Bonacio, and Jeff Allegue make up New Life Crisis. Apparently lead singer Paul Mahos stepped into the limelight a little more and now the band comes after his name. Hey Whatever. The self titled album, New Life Crisis, mixes electronic rock and pop.
Their single, “Dirty Little Girl”, is very reminiscent of the electronic rock band Gravity Kills. It has a catchy rhythm to it along with very sing-a-long lyrics. Mahos has a soft sound to his voice while still being able to rock. Very difficult to pull off. The album starts off with some killer electronic rock songs that had me very interested. But by start off, I really mean START off because after 2 songs it goes into a downward spiral addicted to commercial pop rock.
Softer songs like “Breaking” make you think they took a small break from the rocking songs the album starts with only to return again later in the album. But no, the rock never returns. We are treated to some random poppy rock songs trying to switch styles but not quite hitting any genres anyone will want to hear. The song “Heaven 2047” sounds like a modernized David Bowie song. And “I Need You” just screams 80s.
I had hope for New Life Crisis but in the end I was let down.
