Poison Kiss
The Last Goodnight could best be described as soft rock. Some might not even call it rock. Do you call Maroon 5 rock? I guess they have elements of a soft rock band. The Last Goodnight is very Maroon 5ish. The vocals are high pitched and don’t contain any grit or aggression to make it really rockin.
The lyrics on Poison Kiss are very repetitive when it comes chorus time. The music doesn’t change much throughout the song either. “Pictures Of You” is a good example of their repetition. Its gets very bothersome after a while. It seems like they didn’t have enough lyrics to put together a 3 minute song.
That doesn’t mean any song on Poison Kiss couldn’t be played on radio. They very well could be played on modern rock and pop rock stations. They have the cookie cutter sound that radio thrives for. One song, “Stay Beautiful”, seems like a direct comparison to 90s band New Radicals. So if that’s your thing, then The Last Goodnight is for you.
My final verdict is that is you like lovey dovey soft pop rock songs about chicks and missing them then Poison Kiss by The Last Goodnight is for you. If songs like “Return To Me” make you want to puke then you’re in the same boat as me.
