Centuries Before Love And War
Centuries Before Love and War, a ten song CD released by Portland trio, Stars of Track and Field, is a solid, well written collection of electronic pop music. The album as a whole, sets very melancholy tone for the listener.
Often times as I listen to music by a band I am unfamiliar with, I try to make a connection. I ask myself who the band sounds like, or reminds me of. Upon listening to Centuries Before Love and War several times over, I still cannot make a connection. Asking myself why, I can only arrive at two possible answers. The first possibility is that maybe I have not listened to enough electronic pop over the years to make a connection. The second answer, and the one I tend to lean toward more, is that these guys are just that original.
The tracks are equally impressive, and have a sense of belonging within the same album. They go together, but each has its own individuality. "Centuries", "With You", and "Lullabye for a G.I./Don't Close Your Eyes" are three of my favorites. Centuries Before Love and War is worth checking out if you have the chance.
