The Killing Project

Dead By Wednesday is a relatively new band from Connecticut.  They have two vocalists making them somewhat unique as a metal band.  The Killing Project is their latest album which is very politically based.  They have songs about the war, the government, and much more angst towards this country’s administration.

They have a fast, take-no-prisoners style.  The majority of the songs have almost rap-like vocals (“Society’s Blood”), double bass drumming (“Part Of Me”), and nasty riffs (“Pawns“).  Something you can swing your hair too or nod your head to the rhythm.  Its definitely metal but a little different than your mainstream metal band.  Some songs sound like Serj Tankian if he were a badass (which in my opinion he is NOT).  The dual vocals really give them a chance to spread their wings and expand into a few different genres.  Throaty metal growls and quick rhymes.  An odd combination but it works.  The also throw a little punk hardcore into the mix.  The title track sounds like a new age Suicidal Tendencies.

Listening to this album gave me my first earful of Dead By Wednesday.  The Killing Project is definitely something I am glad I now own.  Its not like anything I’ve heard recently which is refreshing.  Although usually I stray away from bands that have a lot of political talk, I didn’t mind it this time around.  Dead By Wednesday’s The Killing Project is A-OK in my book.  I look forward to more of their releases.
