Domino Effect
Swiss rockers Gotthard have kicked down the door to the US market with their latest album Domino Effect after being a number one chart topping band in their home country since 1992.
These rockers feel like they stepped straight out of the 80's, and the 80's have never sounded so good. Their influences read like a who's who of classic 80's rock: AC/DC, Deep Purple, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, and Aerosmith,. Frontman Steve Lee even based his singing style off of Whitesnake's David Coverdale.
Domino Effect kicks off with a rockin' number called “Master of Illusion”. This song does a great job of setting the tone for the whole album.
Domino Effect is a great balance of ballads, anthems, and songs to just rock out to. The great musicians in Gotthard perfectly complement the soaring vocals of Steve Lee.
Standouts are the title song “Domino Effect”, “The Oscar goes To...” for it's terrific use of violin, the drum and bass heavy “Come Alive”, and the heartbreak ballad with the unfortunately hilariously obvious title “Where Is Love When It's Gone”
On the special edition American release of Domino Effect, there are 5 extra songs and a music video, all of which are phenomenal and continue the great music from the original 14 songs.
This is a great album, by a great band that should be getting more publicity and airtime here in the states. If you're a fan of 80's rock; hair metal; arena rock; or, just plain old rock n' roll that kicks ass, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of Domino Effect by Gotthard
