LIVE SCENES FROM NEW YORK

I can tell you that I have been a huge fan of this band since, When Dream And Day Unite. They were formerly known as Majesty way back when. This band has presented just that, Majesty, over the years as most of you may know? The band has had the DVD Metropolis 2000: Scenes From New York out for sometime now? Now they are about to offer up a 3 CD set. I swear these are the guys that have kept the fires of prog glowing bright over the last few years.

Well today after I got home from working 7am-12pm on Saturday, Labor Day weekend! I found this in the mail. I at first was thinking, well cool now I can hear this New York show in the car and on the run. I don't have a DVD player in the car yet! Hahaha… This is just a sample of what sheer brilliance is to be released on September 11th.

The sampler contains great highlights from this awesome 3 CD package. "Overture 1928" opens this sampler and marches right in on you. They kill! Also don't be surprised if you hear a lot of improvising in the prog songs. DT is known to changes the arrangements around a bit. This surely pounded the speakers. More from the Scenes original album comes on the track "Strange Déjà vu" gives us another pounding prog song that I bowed to when I first heard it. Listen to the harmony in the vocals. They leave me floored. He had a great vocal coach over the years. F! Journey! This is the Shit! "Home" continues in its over thirteen minute original form. Get ready to go a little Floyd-ish. You'll understand why these guys really reign supreme in the progressive rock word. They also have a balance that most metalheads could get into and respect. The sweet ballad from the Scenes record "The Spirit Carries On" closes the chapter of the songs from that 1999 record.

They offer up "Just Let Me Breathe" from Falling Into Infinity. An awesome uptempo song with catchy and interesting lyrics you people may want to examine. "Acid Rain" pounds along in a very hyper fashion. The keys are ruling here. One of the shortest songs here also. "Caught In A New Millenium" is another song that isn't kidding around or is it, "Caught In A Web"?

Dream Theater has released some of the most awesome progressive albums that have had such an impact on this listener. I sincerely bow to them. GODZ! Also be on the lookout for the new, James LaBrie's Mullmuzzler 2 record, as with other member's projects like: Transatlantic and Leonardo-- The Absolute Man. All members are leaving a great legacy of music. Come find out why they are so special.
