Here is a band that I instantly liked when I heard them on the second Mortal Kombat CD, Annihilation. Getting right in. Morgan started the band and they basically started as a jam band. Interviews and cool eye candy comes shooting in and out with interview bits. This is also a big part of the Live and Loud releases that previously came out packed with many extra's on DVD. It is also very timely as you'll find out.
For those that need to know, SEVENDUST are from Atlanta, Georgia. They also claim that they got signed on a fluke. They played 462 shows for the first record. That is surely an amazing feat. The DVD continues to have them talk about the songs they wrote for the first record. They said the Live and Loud was the best because MTV and others just didn't pay attention to them. The funny part of the interviews are that they are done on a the golfing green at home and what seems to be in the studio. We also travel to a video shoot where "Black" is banged out. "Speak" is offered next. You will also note that all of the members have a very active part in the vocals and the feel of it all. "Too Close To Hate" continues the high energy. The song of her comes at us called "Bitch". I also found that the sound quality is surely awesome. "Prayer" is the next one up to plate. The Live And Loud segment ends here.
We then meet LaJon at the farm. The band then goes on to talk about the making of Home. They said they were writing in the studio with a record deadline. They were in a big pressure situation for sure. And then they left right after for the Warped tour. We then get into some talk of the videos and the guests. Skin from Skunk Anansie helps on "Whipping Cream" (never aired in the states). Also Chino from THE DEFTONES is shown behind the scenes during "Bender" and its live in the studio. You get the videos for those songs: "Waffle", "Denial", "Angel's Son" and Licking Cream". Some stuff on the Woodstock appearance and the song "Rumblefish" live, where they made everybody get up, get up.
A big tribute to James Lynn Straight from SNOT "Angel's Son" is the track that pulls at the heartstrings. Straight Up! That track should end up on the next record. The making of Animosity is gone into a bit. That record is due October 30th. This DVD also offers up Sevendust on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. More live, interview and studio footage is all around. They also include a 1997 electronic press. This seems to be as complete as complete as can be for now from this band that deserves the attention because the music being made is from the heart and the gut! They are no followers for sure. Just touching the surface, they are.
