This show at the Convention Center was a long time coming for me. The last couple of months I have been putting my efforts of pushing this great band to people that still haven't heard them yet. Just about every single person I've played Sevendust to, ended up buying it and liking them. I feel like I've been on a secret mission for this band. DVD, CD reviews and now some quick live bits.
This was a Jersey show that wasn't a bitch to be at for sure. After a few laughs we enter the venue and make our way around. The bathrooms are mobbed with people. I even learned the girls outside the bathroom were in line and not waiting for their boyfriends. I go to enter a stall after knocking and this girl jumps out at me. She starts freaking! She isn't even supposed to be in there. I appoligized. Certainly her little blue undies didn't really ring my bells anyway. As Nonpoint blew through there set I got settled in.
A quick change out the opening band to the guys I came to see. Sevendust now hit the stage. "T.O.A.B. " has intro music that just plays on as the opening sounds right into the great "Denial" and "Praise" to name to at the front of the set. "Angel's Son" came in very early. As I wondered, That song does hold more meaning to it. Than just being about Lynn Straight former SNOT front man (RIP). It holds on to the heart as a reminder of 9-11.
I also found them doing "Beautiful" from the new record as a surprise. The other parts of this thumping show included some great lighting effects and just out and out aggressiveness from this band that has blossomed so well. Other points were the songs. "Trust", "Crucified", "Black" and "Bitch" and "Waffle". Seemed shorter than it was. A great outing for this band that must be heard!
One footnote to this is our first roll of film got nuked. I'm going digital soon! And I still didn't bring a pen and pad to this show. This mission isn't completed yet. You will soon find that out.
