NEW OLD SONGS
Before you read any further, ask yourself "Did we really need an entire disc dedicated to remixing LIMP BIZKIT songs?"
No. No we sure didn't. New Old Songs proves it.
I don't care for the direction Fred Durst & co. chose to go in with this compilation. I mean, Limp Bizkit is guitar-heavy, loud, crunch-rock that's blended with Hip-Hop beats. Instead of having The Neptunes, Timbaland, and Sean "Puffy" Combs remixing your songs, how's about getting Rob Zombie, Trent Reznor, or even KMFDM to remix your tunes. They have a much better handle on where you guys are coming from than the rappers do. With that said, I have to give props to Butch Vig for producing the only listenable track on the disc, which is his remix of "Nookie".
Most of the tracks are lacking guitar completely, and the guitar riffs they DO use are abbreviated versions of the ones we know from the existing LIMP BIZKIT songs. I would equate it to eating a pizza...without the cheese; Something's missing.
I'm going to make a sweeping assumption and say that Durst put this project together to gain some credibility with the more hardore rap community... Either that, or he wanted to siphon a few more bucks from the the hordes of urban-mimmicking white kids in the American suburbs. Either way, I think this was a poor direction for him to go in.
Rob Zombie? HE makes good remix discs. Trent Reznor? Some of the better production you'll find is one thoe NIN remix discs. Limp Bizkit? Suck it, Fred.
