A NIGHT AT THE OPERA
Here is a band that I’m always pleased to hear music from. We the listeners were teased with a track that’s not on this album “Harvest Of Sorrow” and a video track that was included on that EP called “And Then There Was Silence” (that track included). The EP alone had me floored and wanting more.
Get ready for some real metal of today. This newest gem in the bands arsenal of metal comes a blasting along with the rapid fire guitar kicking it off. Listen to this shred as you look at your record collection scratching your head! You rockers may just be too blown away by this sheer brilliant art. The guitar riffs on “Precious Jerusalem” call out and you can’t deny the percussion tricks and just how the whole song just becomes a vast landscape. If you love progressive music taken to a level beyond your greatest expectations, look to this German machine that has served the real metal for over a decade.
“Battlefield” is another that has great thrash metal power and just majesty! It has one great catch throughout the track. I can’t help but not think of Queen and even Skyclad taken beyond. “Under the Ice” next and the hyperness gets it going quick. The riffs are at a lower tone and then the riffs and little leads that kill, appear again. Another track that shows more very varied vocals.
”Sadly Sings Destiny” has a great chorus that truly kills! For those not familiar with him? Hansi Kürsch the singer of this band? He has a German voice and sings in American. He has taken his voice to levels that are ever growing. The band uses many vast choir like sounds. Be prepared. You’ll also hear many classical elements floating through the air. I must say that this truly takes the cake. These guys went for it all on this release. I hope the next Rhapsody measure’s up?
“The Maiden And The Minstrel Knight” is a more tame track with great mellow sides as with medieval themes more evident. Even going lighter they still rule! Those into the old ManOwar will definitely understand where this band is coming from. This is traditional metal in ever sense of the word. “Wait For The Answer” has great bell or chime sounds blended in the mix. This is a more cerebral track that then swings around and becomes melodic. The choir sounds surely rule! Take a good look at your Priest records and then listen to the riffs here on “The Soulforged”? Today’s metal has some greatness to offer.
“Age Of False Innocence” starts with some sweet piano and then becomes quietly amplified and continues to grow. It is a more mid-paced metal treat. “Punishment Divine” lives up to its name. The metal punch it supplies does punish. Finally to the EPIC track “And Then There Was Silence”. Nearly fourteen minutes of metal that will leave you on your knees bowing! This record is going to be pretty hard to top in 2002!
