Finally. A band that combines the lowness of Korn, and some catchy god damn
tunes and GASP!!!!....Guitar solos. Yup,
there is a god, because to tell you the truth, 90% of the half-wits out
there in these 'popular bands', can't play their instrument if their
pointy goetees depended on it. FINALLY, a band who utilizes dynamics by not
only using their instruments, but their minds as well.
Based out of Dallas, Texas where they like their beer stong, their women
tall, and their metal heavier than a bull-horn, these guys come
out of the gate with the slamming 'As Ever Beyond'. I will state this now,
the thing that really caught my attention were the vocals provided
by Vince Mullins, who sounds a cross between Lajon of Sevendust, and
Jonathan Davis from Korn, but without the 'poor me, I got ass
raped, so feel sorry for me' vocals (I dig Korn, but enouugh whining
already...PLEASE). Each track is very promising and well arranged
and the choruses are catchy as hell. I had a big smile on my face when
guitarist Eddie Head tore into one of many amazing solos and
utilized his 7-string for more than just corn-y (pun intended) riffs. Head
showcases that he can play with the best of them, but work within
the means of a band with the Nu-Metal sound (I am still wondering where this
NU-Metal thing came from). I strongly urge you folks to hunt this one down,
because this band needs to be heard. I was driving along and got pulled over
because of this one. Trust me, it slams. HARD!!!!!
