DYING FOR THE WORLD

Could it be? Is Blackie Lawless writing songs about the 9/11 tragedy? Yeah, I guess he is...they sound pretty good, too. Blackie Lawless obviously has no problem finding more shit to be pissed off at; admittedly terrorism is a worthy topic of venting some aggression. Lyrics like "Sadman came with misery" and "I'll kill the God you created" make it very clear that even a seasoned headbanger like Blackie can still pen a fist-pumping, adrenaline-brewing anthem, and even more haunting melodies like the acoustic version of "On Hallowed Ground"
Perhaps the biggest letdown on this disc is the abscence of on-again, off-again, longtime guitarist Chris Holmes. Granted, no one gives a shit about his playing; we're just amused that someone so closely resmbling a poorly-tattooed corpse can still get a paying gig with a band. Seriously, when you get a chance, click on over to WASPNATION.com, and check out his pale, lifeless body and crappy tattoos. Incidentally, Darrell Roberts, who is filling Holmes' spot on this disc, and was once in glam outfit TUFF, does a fine job with the axe grinding.

As long as Blackie keeps writing pissed off songs, I'll still have an excuse to give the cops when I get pulled over for driving 90 mph in a School Zone.
