REANIMATION

If you need more evidence that this is a killer disc to own, keep in mind that Marc HATES 95% of all music that winds up on MTV, so for him to dig this is a major statement.

Well this is quite interesting. I HATE THESE GUYS. I REALLY DO. I got a promo of their original album 'Hybrid Theory', and I listened to it a few times, didn't find anything redeaming in it and thought that lead singer Chester Bennington was a whiney little shit who for the most part had to struggle to stay in key during any one of the given songs. So I chucked the disc into the 'recycle' bin and called it a day. But I recieve this CD from a friend of mine and pop it into the CD deck in the car and BOOM......This disc friggin' kicks. Somehow these guys sound alot better and the songs all of sudden really grab my attention. I don't know what it is and why I have had such a dramatic change of heart, but this disc has alot to offer and then some. All of sudden Chester's voice doesn't irritate me and the songs really have an edge to them that offers alot more than the original studio versions. Guess I was really wrong about these guys. Granted, I don't think they are fantastic 'musicians' by any means, and at times the arrangements are a bit pedestrian and boring, but these 'remix' versions really peak and and hit you upside the squash with an aplomb that often lacks in so many 'remix' discs (i.e. Fear Factory). The arrangements have alot of layers, and the mix is dense, tight and way out front. All their hit songs have been given a new spin and each track opens a dense wall of sound. You can actually chill to this CD and slam someones head into the pavement as well (if that's your sort of thing). I will also hand it to Mike Shinoda who has done a bang up job producing and arranging the material and getting these guys to actually find a style that really is all their own. So to all you Linkin Park fans, I apologize for HATING them, but this disc has changed my mind as to what they can accomplish if given the proper guidence. Seriously folks, invest into this CD. It will leave you listening over and over.
