I'm a bit late on this one because the CD has been out for almost 6 months,
but I'll be damned not to let
you all in on some incredible music. This is Niacin's 4th studio CD and each
disc keeps getting better and
better considering that the musicians who make up this 'side project' are
some of the busiest on the planet.
Led by bassist extradinare Billy Sheehan (David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, Talas),
power house drummer Dennis Chambers (by far one of the greatest skin hitters
in the world) and keyboard/B3 Organ meistro John Novello, these guys tear it
up harder than most metal bands and keep an edgy funk backbeat while doing
so. I have
witnessed these guys in a live setting and they are simply SLAMMING!!!!!
Oucch!!!!! The disc opens with the
ever funky, hard hitting 'Elbow Grease' and slides right into 'Time Crunch'
and 'Stone Face'. These three openers are some of the best power trio tracks
I have heard in ages and the disc only gets better from there.
They hit their stride on 'Daddy Long Legs' and 'Hog Funk' and simply blast
their way throught the entire disc
without letting up. The final track, a cover of the Jeff Beck classic 'Blue
Wind' will leave you breathless and
this disc will either make you want to take up drums or jump in your car and
face on-coming traffic. Highly
recommended.
