SNOW

This is THE concept album of 2002 and one of the best releases of the year as well, and that goes without saying that this could possibly be one of the best concept albums of all time. Yup, right up there with 'Tommy', 'Quadrophenia', '2112', and 'Operation Mindcrime'. This 2-disc set is simply some of the most dynamic prog-rock put down on celluloid. Each track grows more and more inviting with every repeated listening. Spock's Beard have been major players in the progressive underground circuit for years now, garnering the same rabid fan base as Dream Theater, all the while being alluded by the break they need to get noticed. Will this happen with 'Snow', most likely not, because lets face it folks, progressive music is not making the major label bucks that the current music industry expects from it's cookie cutter acts. But that doesn't mean this album should go un-noticed either. The album tells the story of an albino boy who becomes a man with some serious healing powers yatta yatta yatta. What the main focus should be the amazing melodies, simply beautiful arrangements and the the downright emotional experience of this double CD. I have not heard such a well crafted melodic peice of music of this caliber and I think it will become a blueprint for ALOT of future progressive bands. Lead Vocalist and songwriter Neal Morse, has not only created a cohesive album that will lift your spirits and really make you LISTEN, but he also manages to create something deeper than some loose fitting themes that tend to only hint at their story line. This album could be put on Broadway and sell out night after night. I am THAT impressed with this CD. I will not go into track details or anything like that because at 26 tracks, that would get tiring, but rest assured, this disc has so much to offer and then some. The grand finale was made for the big stage and I only hope that the CD buying public may one day notice that these silent giants of the progressive music scene have not only created a masterpiece, but may have just created one of the best concept albums of the decade. GO OUT AND GET THIS CD and LISTEN....PLEASE!!!!!!
