DISASTERPIECES
I will admit that I have a soft spot for these guys. There is something
about this band that appeals to me, be it their honesty or their dedication
to their craft and message, these guys are the real deal in my opinion. Not
since SLAYER have I seen a band so intense and brutal in a live setting.
This DVD is the next best thing to seeing these guys, if not the closest
you'll ever get to them other than joining the band. Filmed with 30 camara's
(9 of which are mounted on each members mask), you get to experience not
only one hell of show, but a true band perspective of being there. The DVD
opens with a five minute intro showing pre-show preperations, down to one
members pre-show puke fest, and all the members getting ready to hit the
stage. They are intense and down right scary to witness and once they hit
that stage, watch out. Lead singer Corey Taylor takes the stage like a man
possessed spitting out venom to the frenzied crowd. Opening with 'People +
Shit', Slipknotdemonstrate why they are a force to be rekoned with. Slipknot
deliver a performance which covers both of their intense studio releases,
but also adds an edge of recklessness and brutality not heard in the
original versions. This DVD is both entertaining, engaging and exhausting.
How these guys perform at this breakneck speed and keep the momentum going
from the first note to the last strain of 'Surfacing'. is beyond me. The
energy, aggression, speed, and brutality this band displays is un-matched,
and they are keeping the metal flame alive. These guys are NOT a 'nu-metal'
band, they are a tried and true speed-metal/hardcore drilling machine. Watch
out, something wicked this way comes.
