DAREDEVIL SOUNDTRACK

Blockbuser Soundtracks are a big business. Make no mistake about it, Chester. Gone are the days of "Sure, let's toss a B-side or a filler track on there" that used to permeate the mindset of bands who were asked to write songs for Hollywood films. No, no...today, we get actual EFFORT...and judging by what shows up on the Daredevil soundtrack, there's evidently some rockers out there who know how to write a song or two.

There's twenty, yes TWENTY NEW SONGS on the Daredevil soundtrack, leaning heavily toward hard rock, with some rap and techno thrown in for seasoning. Acts like FUEL, SALIVA, NICKELBACK, MOBY, HOOBASTANK, ENDO, and DROWNING POOL (feat. ROB ZOMBIE) all contribute knockout songs to this superb soundtrack.

Let's take a look at a few of the songs from this sucker, shall we?
FUEL - "Won't Back Down" - Anthemic hard rock worthy of a single on its own.
SALIVA - "Bleed For Me" - Bad title, especially considering Zakk Wylde had a single with the same name on his last Black Label Society Disc. Great song though. Josey Scott learned a thing or two from singing the big hit "Hero" on the Spider-Man soundtrack.
NICKELBACK - "Learn The Hard Way" - Chad Kroeger is rock's new golden boy. The guy can write singles in his sleep evidently, and this is another stellar track.
DROWNING POOL (feat. ROB ZOMBIE) - "The Man Without Fear" - The remaining members of Drowning Pool prove that there IS life beyond Dave Williams; Everything Rob Zombie sings makes me want to drive fast and punch people smaller than me.
EVANESCENCE - "Bring Me To Life" - This one has hit radio already, and you've probably heard it in the Daredevil film trailer. Very melodic, very hooky, and I'm curious to see if they can re-create it on a full-length disc.

The quality of tracks starts to fall off slightly after Hoobastank chimes in with "Right Before Your Eyes", but that's simply because the producers leaned a little too far toward the pop/punk thing...which is currently being beaten to death on radio and MTV. As a whole though, it's a killer compilation, and hopefully a sign of the quality of what's to become a great standard in film soundtracks.

The BEST part about this whole thing? I paid about ten bucks for it, folks...that's right!! TEN BUCKS FOR A BRAND NEW CD!!! A BRAND NEW CD THAT WAS JUST RELEASED TODAY!!! Could it be that the major lables and retailers have removed their heads from their collective ass and realized that 16 to 20 dollars was too fucking much to charge for a CD that costs less than a buck to manufacture was too much (yes, I know there are other costs involved in making a disc, I'm not a total moron...I'm just making a point).

Go Out. Buy the Daredevil soundtrack now. Crank it.
