It is nice after all these years of writing about music that I get to scribble about one of my favorite other brain dead past times, wrestling. This is a definite rare treat. I’ve been a fan since I saw it in NY, nearly 25 years ago I’d say. I saw the local broadcasts. As time went on we went to the WWF, NWA, WCW, ECW back to the WWE. At different times I liked the different federations more. But that is just my thing. Where the F is Sting? I just have to say that I hope to see more of these DVD’s to review.
Funny enough you will find a few commercials on here and some sequences repeat or are edited. The first half of the DVD is the special show they did on TV for the celebration of the tenth year of RAW. The show was pretty funny with all the awards and in character acting going on by the wrestlers. Some did crack smiles and laugh. It does show the real side that these wrestlers have. Some of the categories are: Shut Up And Kiss Me, Gimme The Mic, Don’t Try This At Home. There are many moments from 93 to almost present day. Of course the commercial breaks are also edited out. It was also a live event so some of the audio is a bit off only a little.
The second hour and a half is chock full of interviews with many Superstars like Kane, Big Show, Y2J, Fabulous Moolah, Kurt, Angle and more. Also retro moments like Lightning Kid who went to become 1-2-3 kid and you know the drill. This DVD also included as one of the RAW’s greatest moment of 2002, the Tables Ladders and Chairs match. Also the making of and the first RAW that aired on 1/11/93 with the Hulkster.
It’s a shame they have to blur out the old logo on this. Also seek out the hidden footage. 10 Years. Uncooked. Uncut. This is the step in the cooler direction Vince can take these DVD packages. Everybody likes more BANG for your buck. Three hours plus! Out Tuesday the 18th. This is a very cool time capsule for dedicated RAW viewers and wrestling fans.
