Hmmmm....interesting. I was not prepared to be impressed by this band, because to tell you the truth we are at the
nearing the end of this 'nu-metal' era, and it's pretty much the similar situation that happened in the early nineties
when hair-rock was obliterated from the music world. Alot of the bands look, sound and act the same lately. What actually sets Memento apart from all the faceless acts cluttering the airwaves these days is the fact that their tunes are pretty damn good. Opener 'Nothing Sacred' is forgetable at best, but the disc picks up some serious steam with 'Saviour' and continues on with 'Beginnings' and 'Reflections'. Good use of dynamics and hooks and lead vocalist Justin (no last names for these guys) is very convincing and downright good at what he does. The band is tight and the production of this disc is top notch (very crisp). Memento sound a bit like Live mixed with heavy Tool mixed with a bit of old school Iron Maiden/Judas Priest and plenty of layers of acoustic guitars, piano and orchestral flavorings. I am impressed guys, and that isn't an easy thing to do, but this disc has alot to offer and I can see myself listening to this alot more than just for reviewing purposes. Now your only hope is that someone else takes notice and gives you some serious airplay.
