LIVE IN LONDON
Whether you're a fan of the old JUDAS PRIEST lineup, or the post-Rob Halford-era Judas Priest, you'll get a real kick out of hearing a band full of leather-clad, studded-boot-wearing, middle-aged men (well, except for new singer Tim 'Ripper' Owens) rip through their catalogue in front of a capacity crowd at London's Brixton Academy.
This is the same show that the band
released on DVD last year, only with seven extra songs and enhanced CD features.
Judas Priest purists will bitch, piss, and moan about Rob Halford not being in the band, but you know something? You can't F-ing tell the difference. Ripper Owens has an amazing voice, and unless they overdubbed the shit out of the songs on this collection (which they may have done, you never know), he nails every note on every tune, through a NINETY minute-long set. That's 25 songs with this guy screaming his nuts off...on key. It's not an easy task and only a handful of singers are disciplined enough to pull it off. Halford and Owens being two of them.
The band relies heavily on the older JP material, but they throw in some selections from
Demolition and
Jugulator, just to remind the audience that the band is still recording new music...even if a handful of people are buying it.
It's a great collection if you're a Judas Priest fan, and the packaging is wild too (reflective mylar-lookin' stuff). For a double-disc set with as many extras as this has, it's quite reasonably priced, too. This is a great disc for younger music fans to check out too, because it shows you that even a bunch of old farts can still rock out as hard as...if not harder...than some of the younger bands.
