SICK
The last time we heard from DUST TO DUST, we were breaking their balls in an
interview we did back in November 2001. It's now 2003, the band has lost a few members in addition to a deal with Sanctuary Records.
Sick, Dust To Dust's second release, is distributed via Psyclone Records, which would indicate that their debut disc didn't exactly do gangbusters in terms of record sales.
Rob Traynor wrote, arranged, engineered, produced, and played almost every instrument on the whole disc. With the exception of Steve Tobin on drums and TYPE O NEGATIVE's Kenny Hickey playing guitar on a few tracks,
Sick is Rob Traynor's baby.
The disc starts off strong. "Rot" and "Sick" are both slamming tunes, and either one of them could be a single. The tracks fall off a little after that, but we're hearing some more melody on this disc than on the first Dust To Dust record...maybe that's because there's only one guy doing all the writing...who knows?
I don't hear any multi-platinum singles on this disc, but I don't want to crush Traynor's nuts too badly here...simply because he let me ask him some seriously goofy shit when I interviewed him. It's a solid hard rock disc, but it's not knocking me out of my chair.
