Alrighty-tight-tighty...just like my undershorts...or lack of...here comes another DRUNKEN REVIEW...Yes, it's that time of night where I'm about halfway through a case of ...whatever's cheap...and about four perscription meds away from a toe tag. Let's see how this one comes out...
SYSTEMATIC, the band discovered by Lars Ulrich of METALLICA, have replaced half of their band, most notably with Paul Bostaph, who was in SLAYER for a while...and then got consumed in the cushions of the folding couch of life...umm, yeah.
"Not like You", the first track on Pleasure To Burn, should really be the LAST song on the disc. Weak hook. Weak riffs. Weak tits...oh wait, no...that's grandma. Sorry 'Nanna, but I got some 'dat moonshine in me..."Not Like You"?...Fuzz don't like YOU.
"Breakable" sounds more like the SYSTEMATIC I know and love....Well, not "love" in the anal-rape sense, but "Love" in the "Man, this band is cool" sense...the riff sounds like they lifted it off of ANTHRAX's Sound Of White Noise disc though.
Tim Narducci is starting to sound a lot like John Bush of ANTHRAX/ARMORED SAINT on this disc....whkch is fine, as long as he can sustain it.
"infected" is another decent track, and could have been a much more suitable lead-off track. I think it's about AIDS, because the chorus sings "How does it feel to be infected with me?"...Infected=AIDS....and that folks, is why I always triple-bag my donkey while stuffing some chunky beast for rent money.
Personally, I think the best songs on the disc are "Pleasure to Burn" for sheer riff-madness. This tune makes me want to beat my OWN ass...and "Leaving Only Scars" could be all over MTV (or should I say MTV2) tomorrow...excellent crossover potential.
Now for the portion of the Drunken Review Where I start to pass out and ultimately pass out on my desk...
