DIO ANTHOLOGY - STAND UP AND SHOUT
Here I sit, broken hearted... Tried to Shit, but only farrr.... oh wait a minute... that one had some muscle behind it. Dammit. Morning-after-beer-shits. You'd think I've gone through this enough to see it coming in time to dive toward the sink...or a wastebasket...or my roommate Fritz's hamper...sorry Fritz. Oh well, another pair of leather chaps... filled with the uncompromising aroma of poo.
Well, I'm nice and comfortable, so I'm certainly not going to change my shorts. If you can handle the stink, let's get on with reviewing the latest from one of my idols (and I'm sure one of yours as well), DIO. This anthology, cleverly titled,
Dio Anthology: Stand Up & Shout, makes you want to do just that; Stand up and Shout. So in honor of Mr. Ronnie James Dio, let's all stand up and shout together...
...and a one... and a two... and a three...
"STAND UP AND SHOUT! YEEEEEAAAAAAH!!!!"
Hoo boy...note to self, when chaps are filled with brownies, make sure NOT to stand up and shout. Some o' them brownies is bound to wind up on the floor. Oh well, it's not like this is something new... onto the review.
If you're a die-hard fan of Dio, then you know the backstory; ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH...plus a ton of solo albums make for one hell of a catalog to pick material from, and there's plenty of it to go 'round on these two discs. That's right, I dun said TWO. Check out this track listing:

If you're NOT a die-hard Dio fan, well then you SHOULD be. The man is a legend for Christ's sake, and a brother. Hell, I can remember countless nights (well, I use the term 'remember' loosely...I can TRY to imagine nights) when we'd stay up late after a gig opening up for Dio and his crew. They'd be in their hotel rooms. We'd be digging through the garbage outside the club, looking for dinner and fermented cheese (mmm, ain't nothing like a nice fermented cheese buzz)...and then you'd hear from way up in the hotel, "Hey Fuzz! wanna watch some TV?!!?" It was Ronnie. Gentleman that he was, offering me some of his hotel-room goodness.
So of course I said, "Sure man!"
then, before you could say "Everyone run for cover!" Ronnie chucks the television set out of his suite window and hits me square on the noggin. He must have known I was having trouble sleeping, 'cuz that knocked me right down...and out...for a week.
But man, what a sweetie. Givin' up his TV like that just so i could get some sleep.
Stand Up & Shout, you say? Well, I think I will...
YEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Oh...crap...right. The poo. Forgot about the poo.
